Cascade Cubes is a match-3 with falling physics where the blocks tumble realistically when matches clear rather than dropping straight down. Match-3 has been the dominant casual format since Bejeweled (2001) and any new entry has to justify why it exists. Cascade Cubes justifies itself with the physics, which sound like a small tweak but rewires how you plan moves.
In a standard match-3, you can see where each block will end up after a cascade. In Cascade Cubes, when a row of blocks clears, the blocks above tumble with momentum and angular velocity. They might land in a different column than they started. This means a long combo chain is partly a planning exercise and partly a surprise, and the surprise mostly works in your favour because tumbling blocks tend to create new matches you did not anticipate.
I played through forty of the hundred levels across two weeks of commutes. Mobile touch with drag-to-swap is the optimal input. The cascade animations are satisfying to watch even when they cost you the chain you were planning, and the audio cues for matches are well-tuned without becoming repetitive.
Where the format pushes past standard match-3 is the late-campaign physics puzzles. Level sixty-something introduces angled board surfaces. The blocks fall sideways. You have to think about gravity vectors rather than just swap-and-clear. This is where the engine earns its existence as a separate genre rather than just a Bejeweled cosmetic remix.
Where I would push back is the bonus-currency UI, which is the one bit of monetisation-flavoured friction in an otherwise patient game. Just hide it. Four stars. Strong match-3 with a physics twist that earns its place in the catalogue and rewards repeat sessions.
