Eliza Chambers

Eliza grew up in a household where the family computer ran Sim Tower and Theme Hospital on a loop, and she has not really stopped being interested in management-and-simulation games since. She trained as a librarian at the University of Sheffield, worked at a Birmingham public library for two years, and started a hobby blog about browser games in 2023. The blog crossed 5,000 subscribers in 2024 and she went freelance the next year.

She tests games on her morning train commute, which is a useful constraint. The Cross-City Line from Birmingham New Street to Lichfield gives her about forty minutes each way of focused phone-game time, and the trains rattle in ways that reveal touch-control problems quickly. She is the reason we say honest things about touch UX even on games clearly designed for desktop.

Eliza carries the bulk of the arcade, sports, and adventure reviews and writes most of our category-page editorials. Her blog work leans toward design and the slow history of how browser-game conventions actually got established, which is a topic she would happily talk about for an hour at a pub.
