Editor review

Crystal Toss is a single-screen physics-puzzle arcade where you throw crystals at gem clusters to chain colour matches. The premise is bubble-shooter-meets-physics-toss, and the physics is what differentiates it from a standard match-3.

What works is the throw vector control. Drag-and-release sets both angle and force. Crystals follow a parabolic path with appropriate gravity. The trajectory preview shows you where the crystal will land before you release, which is the right balance between skill and accessibility.

Sixty levels across three themed sets. Each level has a fixed gem cluster arrangement; you have a limited number of crystals to clear it. Three-star ratings reward minimal crystal use, which gives the experienced player a reason to replay levels they have already completed.

Tested over four return commutes on the Cross-City Line. Mobile touch with drag-to-aim works beautifully. The format is essentially designed around touch. Desktop with mouse-drag works fine but loses some of the tactile feel. Keyboard-only input is not supported, which I think is the right call for this format.

Where the game starts to thin is the chain-reaction logic. Crystals chain when three or more of the same colour cluster after a throw. The chain mechanics are functional but a little stingy with bonuses. A more generous chain-multiplier would reward planned multi-hit throws better than the current scoring does.

Where I would push back is the level theming. The three themed sets (forest and beach, plus an ice variant) reskin the backgrounds but do not change the gem behaviour. A truly distinct set (where ice gems shatter differently or beach gems sink into sand) would justify the theming.

Three-and-a-half stars. Solid physics puzzle with strong touch input and decent level variety. Worth playing on a commute, would not hold up to a longer session.
