Editor review

Fuse Flicker is a reflex duel where you tap or swipe to fire short-fuse bombs at opponents who tap or swipe back at you. Both sides see the same screen and react to each other in real time. The mechanic is simple and the execution is sharp enough to earn the four stars.

What works is the read-the-opponent rhythm. You watch your opponent's hand position (rendered as a glowing fingerprint) and predict their next strike. The animations are well-tuned for tells, with small wind-ups that telegraph the upcoming move. Skilled play becomes a game of feinting and reading rather than raw reflex.

I played through about thirty matches across three commute sessions on the Cross-City Line. AI difficulty progresses sensibly. Early opponents are easy to read. Higher tiers introduce feinting where the opponent fakes a tell to bait your counter-tap. The top tier reads your reads, and that is where the duel becomes a thinking person's reflex game.

Tested with mobile touch (the obvious fit), plus desktop mouse and gamepad for comparison. Touch is best because the gesture-based input matches the format. Mouse works fine but loses the natural-feeling movement. Gamepad face buttons are mappable but feel like the wrong input for what is fundamentally a gesture game.

Where the format pushes past simple reflex is the bomb timing. Each bomb has a one-second fuse before it goes off. You can prime a bomb and hold it, then release at the optimal moment. This adds a strategic axis on top of the reflex axis, and skilled opponents will hold bombs to bait you into a counter-tap.

Where I would push back is the cosmetic-skin unlock loop, which feels grafted on. The base game is strong; the unlocks add nothing. Skip them.

Four stars. Strong reflex duel with a tells-and-baits layer that elevates it past pure reaction-time. Recommended for short sessions, especially commutes.
