Editor review
Block Leap is a basic platformer with cosmetic-only character unlocks and ad-heavy monetisation. Twelve stages. Generic enemies. The format is the minimum viable platformer with a monetisation layer pasted on top.
What works is the basic responsiveness. Jump button works without lag. Movement feels weighty rather than floaty. The platformer foundation is functional.
What does not work is the absence of design beyond the foundation. Stages reuse the same three layout templates with cosmetic reskins. Enemies are placeholder sprites with two attack patterns total, and bosses simply do not exist; each zone ends with an enemy-rush corridor rather than a designed encounter.
Tested over two single-stop Cross-City Line train sessions and there was nothing more to see. Touch and keyboard both work. The format is mechanically functional but design-empty.
Where the game tries hardest is the cosmetic-character shop. Twenty unlockable character skins through grindable currency. The skins have no gameplay effect, which is the right design, but the persistent shop prompts grate over the short campaign.
Where I would push back is the ad load. The game shows a full-screen ad after every stage with a paid-skip option. This is the kind of monetisation that drives users to the back button, and there is no reason a twelve-stage platformer should be this aggressive about ads.
Two-and-a-half stars. Functional but design-empty platformer with heavy monetisation. Skip and find a better platformer; there are dozens of better options.
