Editor review

Dash Frame is a speedrun-friendly platformer with frame-data overlay support and per-level optimal-path tracking. Sixty levels designed for speedrun execution. The format is Celeste-influenced precision but with shorter and more focused levels.

What works is the speedrun-first design. Every level can be cleared on a casual playthrough, but each level also has a heavily optimised speedrun route. The optimal route uses tech that the casual playthrough does not need, including wall-jump-chains and route-skipping shortcuts. The level design rewards both audiences.

Sixty levels across three difficulty tiers. The first tier teaches the speedrun mindset. The second tier introduces multi-route levels, and the third tier is the gauntlet where world-record times require sub-second execution windows.

Tested with keyboard, the precision input for this format. Gamepad d-pad works too. Touch is supported but the frame-perfect inputs cannot be reliably executed on touch.

Where the design earns its rating is the leaderboard integration. World-record times sync from a global leaderboard, and the ghost-trail of the current record holder displays on each level. Watching a world-record run is part of the learning experience for serious players.

Where I would push back is the absence of any teaching content. Speedrun-friendly games benefit from optional tutorials that explain advanced tech. Dash Frame assumes you already know wall-jump-chains and similar tech. New players will struggle to discover these on their own.

Three-and-a-half stars. Strong speedrun-focused platformer with excellent leaderboard infrastructure. Limited by the missing onboarding for advanced tech.
