Editor review

Nightline Pursuit is a night-time police chase racer in the Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit lineage. You drive either as the runner trying to evade or as the police chasing. Twelve missions per side. The format is timeless and Nightline Pursuit executes it well.

What works is the asymmetric design. Runner mode and police mode have different mechanics. Runners have nitrous and shortcut routes. Police have roadblocks and spike strips. Playing the same map from both sides feels different because the toolsets differ. This is the smart way to handle the genre.

Twelve missions per side, twenty-four total. Each map can be played as either runner or police, with different objectives. Some runner missions are timed escapes; some police missions are no-time-limit captures. The mission variety prevents fatigue.

Tested with gamepad mostly. The format benefits from analog steering for the high-speed corners that pursuits often involve. Touch and keyboard are supported but feel less precise.

Where the design earns its rating is the night-time visual presentation. The lighting is excellent. Headlights cast realistic cone-shaped beams against ambient streetlight illumination, and police lights flash with appropriate timing. This is research-quality visual work for a free browser racer.

Where I would push back is the AI on the police side. AI runners follow predictable evasion patterns. Police missions become route-prediction puzzles rather than reactive chases. More responsive AI would lift the police mode considerably.

Four stars. Strong night-pursuit racer with excellent lighting and asymmetric mission design. Recommended for racing fans who like cat-and-mouse formats.
