Editor review
Portal Jumper is a puzzle-platformer with placeable portals as the core mechanic. Place an entry portal on one wall, an exit portal on another, and you travel between them maintaining velocity. The format is closely related to Portal (Valve, 2007) at smaller browser scale.
What works is the velocity-preservation rule. Entering a portal moving fast means exiting fast. Falling into a downward portal and exiting through a sideways one converts gravity-momentum into horizontal-momentum. The momentum-conversion physics is what makes portal puzzles satisfying, and Portal Jumper respects this.
Forty puzzles across four difficulty tiers. Early tiers teach single-portal placement. Mid tiers introduce two-portal sequences, and late tiers ask for momentum-conversion chains that depend on entry-angle. The progression respects the player.
Tested with keyboard mostly. Portal-placement input is mouse-or-touch, then movement is keyboard-or-arrow. Hybrid input feels right for the format. Touch with portal-tap is also viable.
Where the design earns its four stars is the puzzle construction. Every puzzle has a unique solution rather than multiple-valid-paths. This focused-solution design teaches portal-thinking effectively. Players develop intuition for momentum-conversion through the campaign.
Where I would push back is the absence of a puzzle editor. The format would thrive on community-created puzzles. The fixed-puzzle catalogue will eventually be exhausted by dedicated players.
Four stars. Strong portal-mechanic puzzle-platformer with disciplined construction. Recommended for puzzle-platformer fans who appreciate momentum physics.
