Editor review

Rooftop Runner is an urban speed-platformer in the Mirror's Edge tradition. Run across rooftops, parkour over gaps, slide under low obstacles. The format is forward-momentum focused with auto-running between major obstacles.

What works is the parkour move-set. Wall-run handles short wall sections. Slide and vault address low gaps and barriers respectively. Each move has specific trigger conditions and recovery times. Learning the move-set is the campaign's main skill demand.

Twenty stages across four rooftop themes (concrete, industrial, glass, neon). Each theme has visual personality and characteristic obstacle types. The campaign is shorter than the format deserves.

Tested with keyboard and gamepad. Touch is supported but the precision-timing of parkour moves benefits from physical buttons.

Where the design earns its rating is the auto-running implementation. Auto-run is at constant speed across flat sections. Obstacles trigger appropriate prompts. This lets players focus on the parkour-trigger timing rather than the running itself. The implementation is competent.

Where I would push back is the campaign length. Twenty stages is too short for the format. Mirror's Edge had longer campaigns despite being a more ambitious production. A small browser version like Rooftop Runner needs at least thirty stages to justify the parkour skill investment.

Three-and-a-half stars. Solid urban speed-platformer with thoughtful parkour move-set. Limited by short campaign length.
