Editor review
Spark Leap is an electric-themed platformer with momentum mechanics. Your character builds electrical charge while moving and releases it through powered jumps. The charge-and-release loop is the core mechanic.
What works is the charge system. Running builds charge over distance. Jumping releases charge proportional to how much you have. A short run yields a low jump; a long run yields a high jump. The momentum-based jump height creates routing puzzles where you have to plan run distances to clear obstacles.
Forty levels across four electric-themed zones. The first zone teaches the charge-and-release mechanic. The second zone introduces electrified hazards that drain your charge, while the third zone adds charge-amplification pads. The fourth zone combines everything.
Tested with keyboard and gamepad. Keyboard arrow keys with space-to-jump is comfortable. Gamepad d-pad works too. Touch input is supported but the charge-management timing benefits from physical buttons.
Where the design earns its three-and-a-half is the puzzle-platformer balance. Each level has only one or two valid routes, and figuring out the routes is part of the puzzle. The format is more puzzle-platformer than execution-platformer.
Where I would push back is the absence of mid-level checkpoints. Failing a long route restarts the entire level. For a puzzle-platformer with limited charge resources, checkpoint after each major puzzle would have respected the player's time.
Three-and-a-half stars. Solid puzzle-platformer with the charge-and-release mechanic providing real depth. The absence of checkpoints is the main friction.
