Editor review
Truck Haul is a freight-truck driving game in the Euro Truck Simulator family but stripped to arcade essentials. Twelve routes across European highways. The loop is straightforward. Pick up cargo and drive to destination; payment scales by load type.
What works is the route variety. Each route is hand-crafted with realistic European highway scenery and appropriate traffic patterns. Routes through France feel different from routes through Germany. The visual texture is researched rather than reskinned.
Where the game falls short is the absence of any depth beyond the haul loop. There is no truck customisation and no truck progression, much less the expanded business mode like Euro Truck Simulator offers. Most players will exhaust the format in five or six sessions.
Tested over four Barcelona Sants commute sessions. Gamepad analog stick is appropriate for the truck-handling feel. Touch and keyboard are supported but feel less natural for the heavy-vehicle physics.
Where the design tries hardest is the truck-handling model. Heavy vehicles need long braking distances and slow cornering, and Truck Haul respects this. The trucks feel heavy, which matters for the simulator-flavoured pacing.
Where I would push back is the absence of voice radio. Euro Truck Simulator's radio is part of its charm. Truck Haul has a small ambient soundtrack but no radio stations to flip through. Adding a radio mode would have added significant immersion for minimal development cost.
Three stars. Functional freight-truck driving game with researched routes but thin meta-progression. Worth a few sessions if you want the haul-loop feel; skip if you want the depth of a full truck-sim.
