Editor review

Blast Zone is a broken AOE-focused shooter. Every weapon fires explosive rounds. Calculating splash damage and avoiding self-damage is the supposed core skill. The implementation does not work.

What does not work is the splash damage calculation. Splash often kills the player even when the explosion appears outside the player hit-box. Self-damage hits the player when standing meters away from the actual explosion radius. The collision detection is fundamentally broken.

Twenty missions of increasingly absurd self-damage incidents. Players who deliberately measure distance from their own explosions still take damage. The format is unplayable in its current state.

Tested over two single-stop sessions before deleting. Touch and mouse inputs both demonstrate the same broken self-damage behavior. Gamepad does too.

Where the game tries hardest is the visual explosion effects. Explosions look good. Particle effects are polished. The visual presentation is the only part of the game that works.

Where I would push back is the entire implementation. The core mechanic is broken. The splash-damage calculation needs to be rewritten. Until that happens, there is no reason to play.

Two stars. The game's foundation is broken. Skip and find any other shooter on this catalogue.
