Editor review
Cone Rush is a top-down arena shooter where your weapons fire in cone patterns rather than straight lines. Enemies approach from all sides; you rotate to face threats and fire cone-shaped projectile spreads. The cone mechanic differentiates the format from standard twin-stick.
What works is the cone-positioning. Each weapon has a different cone-width angle. Narrow cones are precise; wide cones cover more area but with lower per-shot damage. Choosing weapon based on enemy density is the meta-skill.
Sixteen weapons across four cone-width categories. Pencil cones (almost straight) handle precision sniping, while narrow and medium cones cover medium-range and arena clearing. Wide cones handle crowd control. The category variety supports multiple playstyles.
Tested with gamepad twin-stick. Mouse-aim also works. The cone-rotation timing benefits from analog input.
Where the design earns its three-and-a-half is the wave-progression. Each wave has a specific enemy composition that suggests a specific cone category. Players learn to read upcoming waves and pre-switch weapons.
Where I would push back is the absence of weapon-upgrade progression. The sixteen weapons are static. Upgrading or modifying weapons across the campaign would have given the meta-game more depth.
Three-and-a-half stars. Solid cone-mechanic arena shooter. Worth playing for the format differentiation; limited meta-progression keeps it from four.
