Editor review
Burst Bay is a precision shooter built around burst-fire mechanics. Every weapon fires in three-round bursts; click-and-release controls timing rather than holding for sustained fire. The constraint creates a recognisably skill-driven format.
What works is the burst-tempo. The three-round burst takes about 0.4 seconds to fire. Tap-and-release; wait for recovery; tap again. Mastering the rhythm is the format's main skill demand. Players who can chain bursts at the maximum rate dominate; players who mash either jam or waste ammo.
Twenty maps across four campaign environments. The maps are designed for burst-fire engagement distances (medium-range mostly, with occasional long sniper sections). Map design respects the format constraint.
Tested with mouse-and-keyboard. Burst timing benefits from clicking on a stable surface. Gamepad triggers work but feel less precise. Touch is supported but the burst rhythm is harder to maintain on touch.
Where the design earns its rating is the weapon variety within the burst constraint. Twelve weapons with different burst characteristics: tight-clusters, wide-spreads, slow-cadence, fast-cadence. Choosing weapon based on map and engagement distance is the meta-game.
Where I would push back is the boss fight design. The format works well for standard combat; the bosses break the burst-tempo and feel like a different game grafted on. Removing the bosses or redesigning them around burst-fire would have been preferable.
Four-and-a-half stars. Strong precision shooter with disciplined burst-fire constraint. Recommended for shooter fans who enjoy rhythmic combat.
