Editor review
Fairway Flight is a golf arcade game with three-click swing mechanics. Click once to start the swing, click again to set power, click a third time to set accuracy. The format is the standard golf-game swing system, used reliably since PGA Tour Golf (1990).
What works is the wind modelling. Wind direction and strength affect ball trajectory at flight. Players who account for wind in their power and direction settings score lower. The wind layer is the format's main skill demand beyond the swing-click timing.
Eighteen-hole courses across four locations (links, parkland, desert, mountain). Each location has its own visual personality and characteristic shot-types. Links courses reward run-out shots; parkland rewards target-flag shots; desert rewards firm-fairway shots; mountain rewards uphill-and-downhill judgement.
Tested over three weekend rounds plus several commute holes. Mobile touch works fine for the three-click input. Mouse-click is the most precise. Keyboard with space-bar for click-timing also works.
Where the design earns its three-and-a-half is the practice-range mode. A dedicated practice range lets you work on swing-timing without scoring pressure. New golfers can find their rhythm here before tackling the courses.
Where I would push back is the absence of putting depth. Putting is reduced to direction-and-power on a flat green. Real golf putting depends on green-reading (slope, grain). Adding green-reading would have given the short game more depth.
Three-and-a-half stars. Solid golf arcade with strong wind modelling. Limited by simplified putting.
