Editor review
Pool Shark is a billiards arcade game with eight-ball and nine-ball modes. The format is the standard pool game digitised, with predictable physics and reasonable shot-aim.
What works is the aim-line preview. Before committing to a shot, a translucent line shows the cue-ball path. Players can adjust angle and see the predicted result before striking. This makes the format approachable for new players without compromising depth for experienced ones.
Two modes (eight-ball and nine-ball) covered. Both follow standard pool rules with appropriate scratch penalties. The format is what every pool game does; Pool Shark does not add to it.
Tested over three commute sessions on the train. Touch with drag-to-aim works fine. Mouse-drag also works. Keyboard is supported but feels wrong for the analog-aim requirement.
Where the game starts to thin is the absence of trick-shot mode. The pool genre often includes trick-shot challenges (drawn cue-ball routes, multi-cushion shots). Pool Shark has none. The format is plain.
Where I would push back is the soundtrack, which is muzak that grates within a single session. The mute button is in settings. A more relaxed-cafe-music selection would have suited the slow pacing of pool.
Three stars. Functional pool game with helpful aim-preview. Limited by absence of trick-shot mode and grating soundtrack.
