Editor review
Perimeter Watch is a defense shooter where you patrol a fixed perimeter with multiple defensive positions. Twelve perimeter maps with three positions each. Move between positions to face threats from any direction.
What works is the position-switching strategy. Each position has different sightlines and weapon options. Engaging threats from the optimal position requires reading the wave-approach direction before committing to a position. Reading-and-moving is the meta-game.
Twelve perimeter maps across three campaign themes. Each map has its own perimeter geometry. The position-switching strategy varies map-to-map because sightlines differ.
Tested with mouse-and-keyboard. WASD to walk between positions; mouse-aim to engage. The hybrid input is comfortable for the format. Gamepad is supported with awkward position-cycle button.
Where the design earns its four stars is the perimeter-map design. Each map's geometry is hand-tuned to create specific position trade-offs. No two maps play the same way despite using the same mechanics.
Where I would push back is the absence of multiplayer co-op. A perimeter-defense format naturally suggests two-player co-op (one player per side). Single-player only is the format's main limitation.
Four stars. Strong perimeter-defense shooter with thoughtful map design. Limited by single-player-only constraint.
