Editor review
Siege Tower is a tower-defense-meets-shooter hybrid. You place turrets defensively while also controlling a free-aim character with personal weapons. The combination gives you both strategic and tactical layers in one game.
What works is the role-switching design. Turret placement requires resource management and forward-planning. Free-aim combat requires real-time precision. Switching between modes mid-wave creates a tactical-and-strategic rhythm that pure tower-defense or pure shooter games lack.
Twenty waves across one persistent map. The map expands as you clear waves; new defensible positions unlock as the campaign progresses. Map evolution is the meta-progression layer.
Tested with mouse-and-keyboard. Click-to-place turrets; WASD to move the character; left-click to fire. The hybrid input is comfortable for the format. Gamepad is supported but the turret-placement precision benefits from mouse input.
Where the design earns its four stars is the tower-and-shooter balance. Pure tower defense often becomes set-and-watch. Pure shooter often gets overwhelmed against many enemies. The hybrid splits the difference; you place turrets for crowd control while taking out elite enemies personally.
Where I would push back is the absence of weapon-upgrade progression. The character's weapons are static. Turrets upgrade through wave progression, but the character does not. A symmetric upgrade path for both layers would have been preferable.
Four stars. Strong tower-defense-shooter hybrid with thoughtful role-switching. Limited by absence of character upgrades.
