Editor review

Surf Line is a surfing arcade with wave-reading and trick-execution mechanics. Read incoming waves; position to catch them; perform tricks on the face. Twelve surf spots across four ocean themes.

What works is the wave-reading. Each wave has a visible peak and break direction. Positioning to catch the wave at the right moment is the timing skill. Catching the peak earns more points than catching the shoulder.

Twelve surf spots across four ocean themes. Each spot has its own characteristic wave behaviour. Some spots favour right-breaking; some favour left; some have hollow tubes; some have crumbling shoulders.

Tested over three weekend sessions. Touch with tap-and-drag for trick input is the natural fit. Gamepad analog stick for movement plus face buttons for tricks also works.

Where the design earns its three-and-a-half is the trick-input system. Tricks are entered via stick-rotation combinations during airtime. Different combinations produce different tricks. The trick variety is meaningful.

Where I would push back is the absence of a real wave-physics model. Waves break predictably regardless of seabed depth. Adding bathymetric variation would have given the spots more individual character beyond cosmetic theme.

Three-and-a-half stars. Solid surfing arcade with thoughtful trick-input system.
