Editor review
Swim Meter is a swimming arcade with rhythm-based stroke mechanics. Tap or click in time with the swimmer's stroke cycle to maintain pace. Four stroke types across twenty races.
What works is the rhythm-tap input. Each stroke has a visual cue (arm extension); tap at the right moment in the cycle for full power. Mistimed taps lose pace. Reading the stroke cycle and timing taps is the format's main skill.
Four stroke types covered: freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly. Each stroke has its own rhythm and tap-window. Mastering all four takes practice.
Tested over four Cross-City Line train sessions. Touch with tap is the natural input. Mouse-click works. Keyboard space-bar also works but feels less natural for the timing-based format.
Where the design earns its rating is the per-stroke stamina pool. Each stroke type has different stamina-drain rates. Choosing the right stroke for race distance is the tactical decision.
Where I would push back is the absence of relay-team mode. A four-stroke relay against AI teams would have been the obvious extension.
Four stars. Solid swimming arcade with thoughtful rhythm-tap mechanic and stroke-variety. Limited by absence of relay mode.
